Audrey Hepburn A collection of correspondence from Audrey Hepburn to her father Anthony Hepburn-Ruston and her stepmother Fidelma Hepburn-Ruston comprising: - four telegrams from Switzerland, one from Mel Ferrer, from Beverly Hills via Switzerland to Audrey's father, dated 27th February, 1959 (erroneously inscribed in an unidentified hand 1965 ), reassuring him .. Audrey walking all ready [sic] no permanent injury returning to mexico tomorrow... referring to the spinal injury Audrey suffered as a result of a fall from a horse whilst filming The Unforgiven with John Huston on location in Durango, Mexico - this was an especially anxious time for Hepburn and Ferrer as she was pregnant with her first longed-for child; one from Audrey to her father, dated 8th August, 1964 telling him... Mel and I could arrive Dublin Friday fourteenth August. Leaving Monday seventeenth Stop would leke [sic] ....Dublin hotel you mentioned where press not allowed....Hooray Love Monkey [Monkey Puzzle was a childhood nickname her father gave her, and she often signed correspondence to him M.P.], the reference to the press possibly reflecting her desire for peace and quiet in the build-up to the world premire of My Fair Lady in New York in October; one from Audrey and Mel to both Anthony and Fidelma, dated 21st December, 1965 announcing her second pregnancy... Overjoyed another wee Ferrer expected July... , Audrey lost the baby in January, 1965; the fourth telegram from Audrey and second husband Andrea Dotti, dated 8th February, 1970 announcing... Luca was born this morning....Happy Happy all our love - a typescript letter, signed, from Mel Ferrer to Fidelma and Anthony , dated 4th January, 1965, thanking them for a sweater and describing their Christmas... On Christmas Eve, for some inexplicable reason, he [Sean] decided to play Santa Clause himself and got himself up in his red wool tasselled cap, his red snow outfit, red snow boots and an impressive white cotton beard with moustaches...we plan to be here the rest of January and then I expect to move us all back over to Madrid where I start preparations for my next job. - a typescript change of address on a sheet of airmail paper... As of June 1st [1965] , our new address: Audrey & Mel Ferrer, La Paisible, Tolochenaz sur Morges, Vaud, Switzerland , inscribed in Audrey's hand in red felt pen At Last !!, am off for the big move!, all my love M.P. - a mourning card inscribed inside in blue felt pen To Fidelma in sorrow and with love, Audrey next to a reproduction of a photograph of Audrey's mother, Ella Baroness van Heemstra, with the dates 1900-1984, with corresponding envelope addressed to Fidelma in Audrey's hand and frankmarked 16.11.84 - and two telegrams circa late 1980s, one from Audrey to Fidelma telling her.. Robert [Wolders] and I coming to Dublin for Unicef on September 29 ..., the other from Robert and Audery [sic] wishing Fidelma... Xmas love and blessings (a lot)
