Ruled in red throughout. Contemporary Parisian olive green morocco gilt, covers a wide dentelle border made up of small tools, including a tiny fleurs-de-lys tool, spine in six compartments, gilt lettered in one, rest with floral and leafy design and a small "sun" tool, inner gilt dentelle border and gilt decorated endpapers (small repair to spine ends). Provenance : Duc d'Orlean; gift to the Monastery Marie de Chaillot (inscriptoin on front free endpaper: "Ce livre est du Monastère de la visitation Ste. Marie de Chaillot, donné par M. Le Duc d'Orleans de La Bibliothecque de Son A.R."; Lucius Wilmerding (bookplate); purchased from Emil Offenbacher, 31 October 1951. A beautiful example of a late 17th-century early 18th-century Parisian binding.
