(Half titles from the second edition, vol. II lacking blank N 8, vol. III lacking blank O 8, some light browning and spotting mainly to margins more particularly in vol. one). Later polished mottled calf by Riviere, covers with triple gilt fillet borders, spines gilt in compartments with brown and green lettering-pieces, g.e. (Joints splitting, one lettering piece missing, extremities rubbed, heads of spines to vols. II and III chipped with slight loss, a few minor repairs). Provenance : Earl of Carnarvon, Picton (early inscription on titles). FIRST EDITION OF JANE AUSTEN'S FIRST PUBLISHED NOVEL. Block p. 12; Gilson A1; Keynes p. 3; Sadleir 62a. (3)
