WELLS (two autograph correspondence cards signed , 'I wish I could help but I haven't the spare energy', and another declining to commit himself), James Fenimore COOPER (cheque signed, 1836), Leo TOLSTOY (signatures in English and Russian), H. Rider HAGGARD (letter signed, 1906, 'I don't think I will "drop into poetry"'), W.
