A group of five autograph letters signed addressed to William Cowper Temple, 1st Baron Mount Temple, his wife Lady Mount Temple or his stepfather, Henry, 3rd Viscount Palmerston; the correspondents include: John RUSKIN (to Lord Mount Temple, 23 July 1876, 'Alas, I fear I shall be scolded by Grannie, -- for I'm going to play truant to Venice'), Robert BROWNING (to Lord Mount Temple, 13 March 1883, declining an invitation to Broadlands), Dante Gabriel ROSSETTI (to Lady Mount Temple, 31 July 1875, inviting her to view a picture), Lord Palmerston (to Lord Mount Temple, 25 December 1859, offering him the presidency of the Board of Works) and Prince ALBERT (to Palmerston, 28 June 1859, about the appointment of Sir William Dunbar as a Lord of the Treasury), with a transcript of two letters from Khartoum by Charles George Gordon.
