Title: Autograph Document Signed Author: Van Buren, Martin Place: Albany, NY Publisher: Date: 1829 Description: Autograph Document Signed M. Van Buren. Approximately 10x8". Van Buren authorizes his law partner B.F. Butler to act on his behalf in some legal affairs. "I do hereby authorize B.F. Butler, Esquire to receive all payments from Oliver Kane, Esq. for me & to make any arrangement in relation the pecuniary affairs between Mr. Kane and myself which he Mr. Butler may think proper." On the verso and on an additional leaf Butler has penned and signed receipts for money collected from Kane on behalf of Van Buren for payment on a mortgage. In 1829 Van Buren was serving as Secretary of State in the administration of Andrew Jackson Van Buren would go on to serve as Jackson's Vice President and be elected President in 1836. Lot Amendments Condition: Horizontal creases, small hole in second leaf (no loss of text), some edge wear; very good. Item number: 212343
