Title: Autograph Document, signed by Louis Stanislas Xavier (Louis XVIII) and Charles Phillippe (Charles X) Author: Louis-Stanislas-Xavier (Louis XVIII) and Charles Phillippe (Charles X) Place: Coblentz [modern-day Koblentz], Germany Publisher: Date: March 2, 1792 Description: 1-page, 4 line, autograph document, dated March 2, 1792 in Coblentz (western Germany, northeast of Luxembourg), signed in French by Louis-Stanislas-Xavier (Louis XVIII), successor to Napoleon I, and by his younger brother, Charles Phillippe (Charles X). 8¾x7¼". Louis XVIII (1755-1824), King of France from 1814 (but his reign is considered to have started in 1795) until his death in 1824. In 1814, he gained the French throne with the assistance of Charles Maurice de Talleyrand after Napoleon's downfall. Charles Phillippe, Charles X, King of France and of Navarre (1757-1836), also known as "the Comte d'Artois" and grandson of Louis XV, succeeded his older brother in 1824. He reigned until the French Revolution of 1830 when he abdicated rather than become a constitutional monarch. He was the last king of the Bourbon line to reign over France. Lot Amendments Condition: Original folds, soiling, tiny split to centerfold edge, else very good or better. Item number: 158470
