Written in Italian, with two introductory paragraphs in English. 6½x4¼, flexible cloth simulating morocco; in custom-made cloth folder & half morocco slipcase. Isabel Burton, wife of adventurer, explorer and writer Sir Richard Francis Burton, here records the texts of two "Divine Messages" received at the Hotel de la Ville in Milan on two consecutive days. Isabel reportedly received numerous such "messages," and claimed to have immediately transcribed her dreams and messages after they were sent to her. Isabel wrote this manuscript in the period just after her husband first fell seriously ill, three years before his death. They spent their remaining years together going mostly to spas when the traveled from their home in Trieste. Milan must have been one of these journeys. Accompanied by translation into English, revealing the strongly spiritual nature of the message.
