After the war ended, his former colleagues urged him to return, which he did for a few years. Franz Bopp (1791-1867; German linguist). Unfortunately, with his death, the earthquake collection was not entered into the library collections, and his work on the "Great War" was cut short, since his death occurred while the war was still going on. He was also responsible for the early development of these institutions. He established departments such as Egyptology and sociology and the Univ. of Chicago Press. He also helped establish community colleges where students could take their first couple years of courses close to home. He set up extension programs, offering evening classes to those who work during the day. And this was just the beginning of his educational innovations.
