(4to) blue cloth with blindstamp design and gilt lettering, illustrated dust jacket, decorative endpapers. First Edition. Signed by Walt Disney in bold fountain pen opposite title page. The same page is inscribed by the lyricist: "Mr & Mrs. Francis Hann, with all good wishes, Rachael Field." Beneath is a third inscription: "May you enjoy this book with the autographs of the authors and those of the donors, who wish you a merry Christmas, Dora Heffner, December 25, 1940." Beneath Dora's signature is another, likely belonging to her husband. Disney commissioned Field, an award-winning children’s author, to write the lyrics for the version of Schubert’s ‘Ave Maria’ used in the groundbreaking 1940 film Fantasia; this book was released in conjunction with the film. Very scarce with these wonderful signatures and inscriptions. Laid in is a certificate of authenticity from R.R. Auction. Lot Amendments Condition: Some wear and soiling to jacket with edge wear and an area of light dampstaining at bottom; light wear to cloth with rubbing to extremities and a smudge at the title; light toning to pages, owner's signature on front free endpaper; Very good or better.
