A printed document appointing SS Brigadefuhrer Max Henze as Police Chief in Kassel, Berlin, 17 September 1937, printed in gothic script with embossed eagle and swastika stamp lower left, completed in manuscript and signed by the Fuhrer Adolf Hitler and Chancellor Hermann G�ring (1893-1946) at foot, short split at foot of fold, together with a group of six further signed documents relating to Max Henze (1899-1951), including a printed and typed citation appointing Henser as SS-Brigadefuhrer, Berlin, 8 January 1937, signed by Wilhelm Frick (1877-1946); a printed and typed document appointing Henze, whilst Chief of Police for Kassel, as state official for life, Berlin, 11 April 1938, signed by Heinrich Himmler (1900-1945), embossed eagle and swastika stamp beneath; a typed document appointing Henze to the district council of Berlin, 29 August 1938, signed by the Mayor of Berlin Julius Lippert (1895-1956), embossed crest, punch holes to left margin, a little creased and soiled at edges; the fifth document a typed service history of Henze, Berlin, 29 August 1938, also signed by Lippert; the sixth printed and typed document appointing Henze the Luftschutz Service Medal, Berlin, 4 August 1941, signed by Otto Meissner (1880-1953) adjacent to embossed eagle and swastika stamp, one page; the final document a typed and printed citation for Henze to be awarded the War Service Cross 2nd Class with swords whilst police chief of the city of Danzig, 1 September 1941, signed by Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel (1882-1946), purple ink eagle and swastika stamp, all one page (first two with integral blanks), a few minor creases and paperclip marks and impressions to upper margin, folio (last document 8vo) A remarkable Third Reich document grouping, awarded to SS-Brigadefuhrer Max Henze who was executed for war crimes for his part in the atrocities carried out by the Nazis in Bromberg (now Bydogoszcz) in Poland. Max Henze was born in Koethen, Germany on 23 September 1899. He volunteered for service in World War I. As a member of the NSDAP and SS, he was a full-time SS leader in Berlin-Brandenburg. In 1935 he was appointed police chief of Kassel. In October 1939 he became police chief of Bromberg and on 1 April 1940 of Danzig and, finally, from November 1941 in Essen. After his capture in 1945 he was interned by the British in Racklinghausen and Hamburg, being given a death sentence on 4 November 1949. G�ring, Frick and Keitel were three of the nineteen Nazis convicted and hanged following the Nuremberg Trials in 1946. Himmler had committed suicide after his capture in 1945. (7)
