AWHAD AL-DIN ‘ALI BIN ISHAQ ANWARI AL-ABYURDI (D. 1189): DIWAN THE QAJAR ATTRIBUTION TO BABA SHAH BIN SULTAN’ALI ‘IRAQI BY SHAMS AL-UDABA', SAFAVID IRAN WITH QAJAR ADDITIONS, 16TH AND 19TH CENTURY Poetry, Persian manuscript on paper, 204ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 15ll. of fine black nasta’liq script arranged in two columns with double black-ruled gold divisions, titles in gold nasta’liq script within cartouches, text within black-ruled gold frame, with catchwords, opening folio with fine Qajar illuminated shamsa in gold and polychrome attributing the manuscript to Baba Shah ‘Iraqi, on a ground of finely painted gold palmettes, the Qajar colophon signed Sunday 17 Safar AH 1286/29 May 1869 AD and signed ‘Ali al-Sharif Al-Zarif Shams al-Udaba’, final folio with colophon a Qajar replacement, with crude pagination in pen, in modern stamped binding Text panel 5 7/8 x 2 7/8in. (15 x 7.5cm.); folio 9 ½ x 6 ¼in. (24.3 x 15.8cm.)
