Hjorth’s furniture designs were exhibited at the major exhibitions of the time including the Gothenburg Jubilee Exhibition (1923), the Barcelona International Exposition (1929), the Stockholm Exhibition (1930), and the New York World’s Fair (1939). During Hjorth’s career, and due in part to his influence, Swedish furniture design shifted from luxurious classicism to strict functionalism.
