Die Ausgestaltung, insbesondere die reichen Renaissanceornamente im Rahmen, besorgte Jost Amman – Kennzeichen der ersten Ausgabe ist das Formschneidermonogramm in der rechten unteren Ecke von Tafel 24. – Mit der seltenen Übersichtskarte. – Vgl. auch in der Graphik-Abteilung die Landtafeln als Wandkarte unter der Nummer 1520. – Es fehlen die Blätter 1 und 2, 17, 20 sowie 23. – Titel mit hinterlegtem Ausschnitt unter dem Druckvermerk (kein Textverlust), alle Karten auf breite Falze gehängt und im tls. eingerissenen Bug verstärkt, einige Karten mit alt hinterlegten Randschäden und Einrissen, zum Teil etw. knittrig, fleckig und gebräunt. First edition. – The famous earliest specialist map of a European country; Jost Amman was responsible for the exceptionally lavish artistic production. – The first edition is characterized by the form cutter monogram in the lower right corner of plate 24. – With the rare overview map. – Compare also in the graphic section the plates as wall map under the number 1520. – Lacks leaves 1 and 2, 17, 20 and 23. – Title with backed cutout under the imprint (without loss of text), all maps mounted on wide folds and reinforced at partly torn joint, some maps with marginal damages and tears backed in former times, here and there a little creased, soiled and browned. – Damaged half calf of the 19th century.
