Duval Scott & his Scotland 971 Issued over a period of twenty five years and in very small numbers being limited to those who were able to attend the Club dinners, the Garlands are amongst the rarest of the Club's productions. Complete setes are therefore of even greater rarity. There are no records of any set appearing at auction for many years. Scott took a leading role in establishing the Club and was its founding president, presiding until his death. Scott composed a song for its first dinner, 9 March 1823, which was issued as the first of the "Garlands". He was also involved in the publication of the joint issue of two "Garlands" as Two Bannatyne garlands from Abbotsford . All but the last in the series were original works and in most cases were issued in no more than 40 copies. The other works in the collection are also scarce, for example, only sixty copies were printed of the Album No I , which contains a list of works recommended for publication, Provenance: Robert Graham of Redgorton, Advocate, one of the founder members of the Club.
