Original vellum, covers and spine elaborately gilt-decorated, t.e.g., some slight soiling; quarter morocco folding case. Provenance : Dianna Manners (presentation inscription from the author on front flyleaf and her husband Duff Cooper Churchill's bookplate). FIRST EDITION, ONE OF A VERY LIMITED NUMBER IN THIS SPECIAL VELLUM BINDING, PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed by Barrie to Diana Manners (associate of Evelyn Waugh and wife of Duff Cooper Churchill) on the front flyleaf: "To Diana Manners from her friend J.M. Barrie Christmas 1911." The narrative adaptation of the play Peter Pan , was first produced in 1904. The play version was not published until 1928 and this volume is the first edition of the story upon which the made-for-television movie "Peter Pan", starring Mary Martin is based. EXTREMELY RARE: this is the only copy to appear in American Book Prices Current during the last 25 years when it appeared in 1996.
