Beschreibung:

with strap made of approximately 3" wide white kid leather at its inside and outside with two silver braid ribbons each 1" wide on either side of a black velvet 1" wide center. The length of the two pieces of the strap is approximately 23.5" from silver buckle to end, and approximately 51.5" from silver tongue to end. The pouch consists of a hinged stiff black leather box with two buckles at the bottom for attaching another uniform accessory, and a stud for fastening the lid cover closed. At the back, two leather loops for attaching to the shoulder belt. The front cover, hinged to the leather box, is backed with white kid leather, and has a front of black velvet bordered by 1" wide silver ribbon as on the shoulder belt. It's trapezoidal and approximately 5.5" maximum width and 5" maximum height. To the front, a silver coat of arms for the kingdom is sewn through the cover, and a leather tab for closure is sewn to the back of the cover. Worn by the palace guards of King Ludwig II at his castles in Nymphenburg where he was born in 1845, and Neuschwanstein, where he resided when he died in 1886. The shoulder strap was worn over the left shoulder and the pouch rested at the small of the back behind the right hip. Condition: Tarnishing to metal and braiding. Extremely rare to find accoutrement to a small and elite unit. A museum quality piece in very good condition.
