A beautiful calligraphic manuscript that is certainly the work of Jean de Beaugrand, seul escrivain du roy , and author of two writing books, or a member of his immediate circle. Two of the verses are identical, though in different scripts, to examples in the Pepys Library at Cambridge, while the flourishes are very similar. The verses are written in two different scripts and the general effect is enhanced by the combination of black and gold.
