A Fortresse of the Faith . Ibid., 1565. Woodcut device on title (lacks last leaf, childish drawings and pen-trials in the margins). FIRST EDITION. STC 23232. 2 works in one volume, 4° (177 x 131mm). (Margins cut close in both works affecting most headlines and some side-notes, all woodcut initials coloured by a childish hand, soiled and browned, numerous small defects). 18th-century blindstamped calf (rebacked). Provenance : From the Library of John Jackson (1793-1875) of Academy Place, Warrington (bookplate). Sold not subject to return.
