Bedeutende Gallé-Vase mit Gedichtzeile von Paul Verlaine Sog. "Vase parlant". Keulenform auf diskusartig ausgebauchtem Fuß. Farbloses Glas, dünner brauner Überfang, partiell mit cremefarbenen Pulveraufschmelzungen und Metallfolie (Platinfolie). Geätzter und geschnittener Dekor aus einem Baumstamm mit Herbstblättern; unterhalb des Lippenrandes umlaufende, geschnittene Inschrift mit Vers "hivers pardon me les saisons fins d'automne" (Die Winter verzeihen mir die Zeiten des Spätherbstes) "P(.) Verlaine". Zwei beschliffene, herstellungsbedingte Luftblasen. Vergoldete Sign. im Baumstamm "GALLÉ". H. 50,5 cm. Diese Vase oder ein weiteres, fast identisches Exemplar war 1893 im Salon de la Societé Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris ausgestellt. Vgl. A. Duncan/G. de Bartha, "Glass by Gallé", S. 204, Abb. 314. Tiefgründige Verse des symbolistischen Lyrikers Paul Verlaine (1844 - 1896), von Charles Baudelaire (1821 - 1867), Maurice Materlinck (1862 - 1949) und François Villon (1431 - nach 1463) inspirierten Gallé seit circa 1884 zu seinen "verreries parlantes" - poetische Glasobjekte mit Bezugnahme auf eingeschnittene Zeilen. An important acid-etched and wheel-carved (cut) Gallé cameo glass "vase parlant" with an inscribed poem by Paul Verlaine, powder and metail foil inclusions. Two grinded air bubbles due to manufacturing. Signed. Frankreich. Nancy. Emile Gallé Um 1893.
