[Belgium - Leuven University] ESTRÉE, Louis de l' "Copie du Directorium seu Tractatus de jure et justitia ad Généalogias Bayorum in usum Domini presidis Collegii Bay". Chièvres, second half of 18th c. - beginning of 19th c Folio: [1]-pp., on paper, in French, Latin and Dutch, written in brown ink (complete?, last ff. loose, sl. browning). Contemp. vellum, flat spine (rebacked?, part. loose, corners and turn-ins sl. rubbed). A unique (?) collection and an important testimony on the history of the College of Bay (1614-of the former University of Leuven (genealogies and biographical information on the family of the founder, copies of wills, statutes, etc.). This institution, founded by the professor of theology Jacques de Bay (1545-1614), was located in Tiensestraat, next to the college of Winckel. Contains also: copies of royal decrees and letters patent relating to Oudenaarde or Tournai, "Memoire Présenté Par les états de flandre à sa Majesté l'empereur et Roi, en faveur des Couvens", documents relating to Belgium (1814-1815), and large copies of coat of arms of the families Nieulant, de Villegas, de Boodt, etc.
