Believed Taylor--Vintage 1948 Remains of embossed wax capsules, only vintage visible. No labels. One with slight signs of seepage. Levels top-shoulder Tasting Note: Tasted 21 times since 1958 when I noted it as 'fine, smooth. Fullest and darkest'. It has been invariably magnificent. Still fairly deep and intense; beautiful bouquet, lovely fruit, scented, citrus, vanilla; sweet, full-bodied, powerful yet perfect flavour and balance with glorious blackberry-like ripeness. The finest, loveliest of all the vintages at Taylor's tercentenary tasting in 1991. More recently, labelled ' Superior Vintage Port, bottled by John Harvey & Sons Ltd ': fabulously fragrant; sweet, firm, spicy. Probably now the best-ever vintage of Taylor. One further comment: one of the finest ports ever made. Last noted at the Hollywood Wine Society tasting, Florida, March 1998 ***** M.B. 2 bottles per lot
