Beschreibung:

BENEDICT XIV: (1675-1758) Pope of the Roman Catholic Church 1740-58. L.S., P. Cardinale Lambertini, as Cardinal, two pages, 8vo, Ancona, 24th March 1731, to Pirro Capacelli Albergati, in Italian. The Cardinal states that he has received his correspondent's letter and refers to other letters to and from Gasparoni, remarking 'I regret so much to see you oppressed…I want to see you happy, and that as long as God will grant you life', further writing about Belizia, a prosecutor in Rome, who would have commenced his work after the Cardinal left, 'to write to him from distance…doesn't seem viable and to elect a new prosecutor….without anybody present who has this authority, it is not viable as well', adding that he will go to Rome himself at the end of April and will meet Belizia to check the status and choose a new prosecutor. Some show through of ink to both pages and a few small, very minor, tears to the edges, only very slightly affecting a few words of text, but not the signature, otherwise
