Contemporary calf, spine gilt (wear at head of spine), with two engraved portraits of the Pope tipped in. Provenance : M.C. Gioachimo d'Adda (18th-century ownership stamp on title). Benedict XIV was one of the most learned popes of modern times. At the age of 19 he graduated 'cum laude' in theology and canon law at the Collegio Clementino in Rome. The present manuscript is presumably the dissertation which he submitted. APPARENTLY UNPUBLISHED.
