Siris: A Chain of Philosophical Reflexions and Inquiries Concerning the Virtues of Tar Water, and divers other Subjects Connected and Arising one from the other, 2nd edition, Improved and Corrected by the Author, Dublin printed, London re-printed, for W. Innys, C. Hitch & C. Davis, 1744, bound with: Prior (Thomas), An Authentick Narrative of the Success of Tar-Water, in Curing a great number and variety of Distempers, with Remarks and Occasional Papers relative to the Subject... , Dublin printed, London re-printed [1st London edition], for W. Innyes, C. Hitch, M. Cooper and C. Davis, 1746, a little spotting and a few small brown streaks to lower margins of leaves at end of first work and beginning of second work, contemporary 17-line manuscript poem in praise of Berkeley by 'A young Gentleman whose Health had been re-established by Means of Tar-Water', neatly written to front free endpaper verso, signed 'C.S.', dated 13 January 1778 and sent by D.G. from Maidstone to the London Chronicle of 11 April 1778, hinges cracked and with old paper repairs, contemporary marbled boards with modern antique-style calf reback with gilt-titled leather spine label, some corner wear, 8vo, together with: Nugent (Christopher), An Essay on the Hydrophobia: To which is prefixed the Case of a Person who was bit by a Mad Dog; Had the Hydrophobia; and was happily cured, 1st edition, 1753, ink library stamp to title and ink mark to final leaf, closed tear to inner margin of E1, 20th-century library cloth with Birmingham Medical Institute gilt stamp at foot, slightly rubbed and a little frayed at foot of spine, 8vo
