BERNI, Francesco and others. Il primo [secondo] libro dell'opere burlesche. Florence: Bernardo Giunta and the heirs of Bernardo Giunta, 1548-55. 2 volumes, 8° (149 x 91; 158 x 91mm). Woodcut device on title-pages and at the end of vol.II, with the final blank in vol.I. (Minor flaws in the lower margin of A2 in vol.II with no damage to text, occasional light spotting.) Vol.I 18th-century Italian vellum, vol.II 19th-century vellum gilt. THE RARE FIRST EDITION of both volumes of Berni's comic poetry edited by Grazzini. The other authors whose works feature in the two volumes are Aretino, della Casa, Varchi, Mauro, Bino, Molza, Dolce, Firenzuola, Francesci and Martelli. Gamba 158 'Rarissimo' & 159. (2)
