Manuscript in ink on paper, paginated 1-1764, unpaginated index, written in a clear italic cursive hand, manuscript titlepages with the Béthune arms and crown. An exhaustive horticultural compendium, arranged alphabetically by plant names (and families), compiled from a number of treatises names at the from of vol 1 (all published between 1572 and 1796), apparently written for (or possibly by) Armand-Joseph de Béthune (1738-1800), duc de Charost. Each entry contains details on the plant, known varieties, methods of cultivation, uses, etc. H. Pasquier bookplate.
