Part titles within engraved borders, woodcut historiated and floriated initials. (Lacking 16 leaves of preliminaries, blank V4, Dddd6 and the last two leaves [imprint and a blank], last leaf mounted, the first title supplied from a Matthew New Testament title dated 1551 [cf. D&M 92] with manuscript correction, some headlines and shoulder notes shaved, some leaves browned, a few repairs including some short wormholes closed and with some letters supplied in an early hand, a few leaves slightly short.) 18th-century blind-tooled reversed calf with calf spine gilt, red morocco label (front cover and endpaper detached, lower joint split, spine caps chipped, some wear). Provenance : William Beckwith (16th-century inscription on part title 4; occasional marginalia) -- 'H.C.O.' -- 'I.J.O' (initials on front pastedown).
