Amsterdam: Joost Broerss, 1642 - 1643. 2 o (375 x 242 mm). Engraved title-page for the "Old Testament," initials, tail-pieces. (Some spotting and staining.) Contemporary speckled paneled calf, brass clasps (rebacked in the 19th-century, corners strengthened, endpapers recently renewed). Provenance : Alis Curtis (ownership inscription dated 26 March 1670 on recto of first blank); The Fleet family (inscriptions dating from 1736 - 1838 on verso of first blank). Second edition of the first bible of the King James or Authorized, version "avowedly printed abroad" (Darlow & Moule). Including notes from the Geneva Bible and Junius's Annotations on Revelation , placed in order by John Canne(?). Darlow & Moule 444; Wing B2649.
