Titles to each part with woodcut allegorical illustrations, large criblé initials, woodcut illustrations including 5 full-page, ruled in red throughout. (Minor marginal stain to first and last few leaves, otherwise a clean, crisp copy.) 17th-century calf, spine gilt, gilt arms on covers (rubbed and crazed, joints cracked, head- and tailcaps defective). Provenance : Bishop Hardouin de Beaumont de Péréfixe (1605-1671; binding cf. Olivier 1525) -- William Trumbull (engraved armorial bookplate).

This is the only illustrated Bible issued by Robert Estienne, and the second of only five illustrated books which he produced' (Schreiber).
