Bible in Latin Biblia. Habes in hoc libro prudens lector utriusq[ue] instrumenti novam tranlatione[m] aeditam ... [translated by Sanctes Pagninus]. Lyon: Antonius du Ry, [Old Testament:] 1528; [New Testament:] "at the expense of Franciscus Turchus, Dominicus Berticinius of Lucca, and Giacopo de' Giunti bookseller of Florence," 29 January 1527 8vo (10 x 6 1/2 in.; 254 x 165 mm). Title printed in red and black within woodcut border with portraits of the pope seated among cardinals and saints, woodcut initials; some quires lightly browned with some marginal soiling and staining, margins of leaf A2 renewed with loss of three lines, fore-edge of leaf PP6 somewhat frayed, contemporary marginal and interlinear notes. Contemporary calf on bevelled oak boards, blindtooled in a panel design with roll-tooled vases in frame and crossbands of central panel, remains of clasps, blindstamped supralibros at top of central panel; rebacked, leather gone from edges and corners. In a red morocco drop-box, gilt-stamped Tonner monogram.
