Schriftuure vervattende alle de Boecken des Ouden ende Nieuwen Testaments Author: Place: Amsterdam Publisher: Jacob Lindenberg Date: 1702 Description: With 3 added pictorial title-pages (general title, Old & New Testaments); portrait of Adolf Visscher); 4 double-page copper-engraved maps; 63 full-page & 13 half-page engraved plates, nearly all of the full-page plates with 2 images. (folio) 38x24.5 cm. (15x9¾"), period blindstamped calf over wooden boards, metal corner bosses and hinges, but lacking the clasps Folio edition of Adolf Visscher's Bible of 1648 (Darlow & Moule, 3311), notable for the many engraved plates and the four maps. This is said to be the first Bible illustrated by Romeyn de Hooge, of the Rubens school. De-accessioned from the Pacific School of Religion, but with no markings other than the bookplate of John Howell. Lot Amendments Condition: Some normal wear to the binding, joints beginning to split but sound; moderate darkening, soiling and aging to contents; very good overall, an impressive early 18th century Dutch Bible.
