Vollständige Exemplare mit allen vier Bänden sind außerordentlich selten. "De Lyra's famous commentary added much to the bulk and beauty of many early Bibles, and a Nuremberg edition was used by Luther" (Rumball-Petre 29). Die Holzschnitte entstammen dem Koberger-Druck der Postilla Nicolaus' vom 22. Jan. 1481, damit die ältesten Illustrationen der Offizin. Sie stellen in schematisierter Form Arche Noah, Bundeslade, den großen Leuchter, Gesetzestafeln, Hohepriester, Tempel des Salomo, Pläne, Grundrisse sowie astrologische Diagramme dar. - Vereinzelt etwas fleckig oder wasserrandig, einige restaur. Einrisse u. Randläsuren, gelegentlich kl. Wurmspuren. Alle Bände mit Besitzvermerk "Ex libris Joannis Morser parochi in Santeins", datiert 1717. Morser hat die Bände zusammengeführt und vermutlich auch uniform binden lassen. 4 vols. A composite set of Koberger's first edition of 1485 ( vol. 4), being the first illustrated Latin Bible, and his fourth edition of 1497 ( vols. 1-3; with the same cuts). With 3 opening initials in gold and colours with floral decorations in margins and numerous initials in red. - Some spotting and marginal waterstaining, a few tears repaired, some marginal fraying, occasional wormholes. The set was brought together in the early 18th century by Johannes Morser (his ownership inscription in each volume). Uniformly bound in early 17th-century calf over wooden boards tooled in blind with brass catches and clasps; a little rubbed, small tears at spine, volumes 1 and 3 missing one clasp.
