Vies dec anciens orateurs grecs; avec des reflexions sur leur eloquence, des notices de leurs ecrits, & des traductions de quelquesuns de leurs discours. Isocrate. I (more published). Paris (chez Nyon - Robustel) 1752. 8:o. (6), i-xxv, (3), (1)-367, (5, last 2 blank) pp. Engraved frontispiece, 30 folding engraved plates. Contemporary brown mottled full calf, worn, gilt borders, on middle of covers the gilt coat-of-arms for Madame de Pompadour, cracks in the joints, gilt edges of covers, richly gilt spine, red edges. Old annotation on first endpaper. Volume I (of 2) only. Jeanne Antoinette Poisson Pompadour (1721-1764), from 1745 marchioness, mistress to Louis XV of France. Sold as a binding, not subject to return. Provenance: From the library of Ove Hassler (1904-87), Dean in Linköping, Sweden, and his son, Eivind Hassler (1939-2009).
