Birds.- Donovan (Edward) The Natural History of British Birds, vol.1-5, second issue, half-titles, 124 finely hand-coloured engraved plates, vol.2 with tissue guards, vol.3 with 6pp. Index duplicated at end, some spotting or browning, almost entirely to text, H1 in vol.4 (description to plate XC) torn at head affecting a couple of lines but no loss, contemporary half burgundy roan, spines gilt in compartments, a little rubbed, [Fine Bird Books p.91; Nissen IVB 257], 8vo, for the Author, 1799. ⁂ Originally published from 1794-98 in monthly parts these five volumes were re-issued together in 1799 with new titles. A further five volumes were published from 1809-19.
