Amsterdam: Johannes and Cornelius Blaeu, 1645.] Volume II only, 2 parts in one volume, 2° (515 x 300mm). Text in Latin, mounted on guards throughout. 64 (only, of 92) double-page engraved maps of France, Spain, Asia and the Americas, one folding, all coloured by a contemporary hand, additional Blaeu map of the Crimea loosely inserted at end, woodcut initials and tailpieces. (Lacking engraved architectural title-pages, 28 maps and 2 text-leaves, the whole loose, map 1 split at centrefold with associated losses, map 12 with 260mm tear but without loss, map 81 of Bermuda loose with edges soiled and frayed, folding map loose, split in two and defective, light spotting, browning, offsetting and creasing throughout.) Contemporary vellum, panelled in gilt (worn, rubbed and soiled). 1645 issue of volume II of the Latin edition of the Blaeus' Novus Atlas . Although highly defective, it does contain the American maps of the Caribbean, Bermuda, Virginia, Central and northern South America, Paraguay and Peru. Van der Krogt 2:202.2H.
