BLAEU, Willem Janszoon (1588-1664). Vertooninge naar 't leven vande Zeecusten van Engelant tussen Poortlant ende Doeveren . [Amsterdam: c.1608]. Blaeu's map of the south coast of England, from Portland to Dover, including the Isle of Wight and Solent, coloured by a contemporary hand. The north-coast of France with Calais and Boulogne appears bottom-right. The map appeared in Blaeu's oblong-format pilot guide Het Licht der Zee-vaert , first published in 1608. Koeman IV, M.Bl 1 chart 19. Engraved map on 2 joined sheets, coloured by a contemporary hand , verso blank, 2 compass roses and decorative ship, title in Dutch and French within strapwork border with 2 bird supporters, scale cartouche within elaborate border with 2 rabbit supporters, numbered '19' in bottom right-hand corner, 252 x 555mm (sheet).
