Provenance : contemporary deleted signature on an endpaper -- Cardin Belard (early 18th-century signature on same endpaper) -- small 19th-century ex-libris on front paste-down endpaper with motto 'semper audere'.

FIRST EDITION of one of the first French books on tea, coffee and chocolate by the mountebank Nicolas de Blegny who, before spending seven years in prison between 1693 and 1700, had been appointed royal doctor to Louis XIV.
