Livre d'Architecture. Paris: Guillaume Cavelier, 1745. * BOUND WITH: Description de ce qui a ete pratique pour fondre en bronze d'un seul jet la figure equestre de Louis XIV, elevee par la Ville de Paris dans la Place de Louis le Grand. Paris: Guillaume Cavelier, 1743. [6], 99, [1]; [8], 63, [1] pp. Both works in French and Latin. First work illustrated with 68 (of 70?) engraved plates, predominately folding or double-page; second work with 21 engraved plates, many double-page. Folio (428 x 276 mm). Period full brown mottled calf, spine gilt in seven compartments, gilt-lettered spine label. First title with a few small dampstains, darkening of a fold to one pasted plate extension, binding with extremities rubbed, joints partially cracked, light shelfwear. First editions of two rare works by one of the creators of Rococo architecture and design. The first title includes plates showing exteriors and interiors of French town mansions. Although the plates are numbered to LXX, the Fowler copy also has only 68. The second title details the foundry process of the creation of a monument of Louis XIV on horseback. Fowler p 43 (first title).
