Beschreibung:

Autograph Document Signed of Pedro Palacios y Solo, 1 p, oblong 8vo, Caracas, July 12, 1792, being a receipt documenting that masses have been said in rememberence of Dona Maria y la Concepcion, the mother of Simon Bolivar, some worming to margins and text, page creased and toned. Simon Bolivar was born in Caracas, Venezuela to wealthy Creole parents, both of whom died before he reached his teens: his father when he was three, and his mother, Dona Maria y la Conception, when he was nine. This short document written and signed by a priest who is also probably Bolivar's uncle, documents the family's payment of burial expenses just six days after his mother's death. In part, translated: "Received from don Feliciano Palacios y Sojo, executor of his deceased daughter Dona Maria y la Concepcion Palacios y Blanco, the amount of seventeen pesos by alms of the sign and sixteen pesos by said masses that have been celebrated in this Church of San Felipe Neri." See illustration.
