Together 4 volumes in one, 8 o (218 x 139 mm). Contemporary half red morocco, top edge gilt (rubbing to spine ends and edges). Provenance : Johannes Barnard (bookplate); Alan G. Thomas (bookplate). PRICED WITH BUYERS' NAMES in a contemporary hand in the Christie's picture catalogue. Sir William Bolland, Baron of the Exchequer, "a friend of Dibdin, who calls him 'Hortensius'" (de Ricci). In the Bibliographical Decameron . The Roxburghe Club was founded in Bolland's house, Adelphi Terrace in 1812. A unique copy, with an additional calligraphic title for all for sales, an ink drawing of Bolland's coat-of-arms, and a 12 page of neatly mounted contemporary newspaper articles about Bolland and the sale.
