Half-title, engraved frontispiece by Arnold van Westerhout engraved additional frontispiece of psalm 150 after Stefano Sparigioni bound in before title, 151 engraved plates (numbered 1-148, numbers 12/13 and 13/14 on one plate, with 2 Bis plates and 2 unnumbered plates), one folding. Contemporary mottled calf, spine gilt (later red morocco label). FIRST EDITION SECOND ISSUE with text to the appendix. Hirsch IV 1476; cf Lipperheide Pg6; cf. Brunet 1, 1086 calling for 136 plates. This work is the earliest attempt to describe and illustrate every known musical instrument, both ancient and modern.
