Title: Bond-Certificate Campaign: First Loan of the Elected Government of the Republic of Ireland Author: American Commission on Irish Independence Place: New York Publisher: National Headquarters Date: [1919] Description: [8] pp. With a two-page map of the Irish Republic showing result of General Election, Dec., 1918, at center. 20x13 cm (8x5¼"). Rare 8 pp. financial brochure, the purpose of which is stated on page 1: "The Purpose of the Issue is to Finance the Elected Government of the Republic in Projects of National Reconstruction and for such other purposes as the Government may decide." The revolutionary Dáil Éireann leader Eamon de Valera visited the United States in 1919-1920 with the goal to gain both a popular and an official recognition for the new Irish Republic and to get financing. By the time he returned to Ireland, he had raised $6 million. The Dáil Éireann was short-lived however, ending in 1922. Only 4 located by OCLC / Worldcat. Lot Amendments Condition: Small faint circular dampstain on fore edge of each leaf; very good. Item number: 244488
