Beschreibung:

"Book of the emissary of the Misgav Ladach Hospital in Jerusalem". Jerusalem, 1923-1924. Book of the emissary R. Menachem Mendel ben David HaCohen Honig. The date Kislev 1923 appears on the title page with the destinations "the shores of Morocco, Brazil and the surroundings". [Spanish Morocco and South America]. Following the title page are leaves with recommendations (in Hebrew and English) signed by the Gaba'im of the Misgav Ladach Hospital, a recommendation signed by the Rishon LeTzion Rabbi Ya'akov Meir and another signed by the members of "The Great Jerusalem Bet Din" [Rabbi David Papo, Rabbi Yosef Mordechai HaLevi and one more signature]. The interior of the notebook includes many inscriptions [Hebrew, English and Portuguese], financial reports, names of donors and donations from Brazilian cities (Rio de Genaro, Pernambuco, Bahia, etc.). Further in the notebook, entered in Elul 1924, are recommendations for a new mission, to “India, Eden, Bombay, Calcutta, Singapore, Cochin, China, Japan [written Japon], Java, [Indonesia], Ceylon [Sri Lanka], Burma and all their zones, villages and regions”. It remains unclear if the emissary did indeed fulfill this mission as no donations from these countries are recorded in the notebook. 400 pages (approximately 70 written). 22 cm. Fair condition, stains and wear, tears. Several detached leaves. Wear and damages caused to the binding.
