BOOTH, Edward Thomas (1840-1890). Rough Notes on the birds observed during twenty-five years' shooting and collecting in the British Islands. London: Taylor & Francis for R. H. Porter and Messrs. Dulau & Co., 1881-1887. 3 volumes, 2° (425 x 335mm). 114 hand-coloured lithographic plates after Edward Neale 2 coloured maps. Publisher's blue half morocco gilt, t.e.g., by R. H. Porter. FIRST EDITION. Booth was a wealthy ornithologist and sportsman who collected and prepared his own specimens. His aim always was to stuff and mount the birds in as natural an attitude and setting as possible. The plates were drawn by Neale from these displays, which on Booth's death were bequeathed to the corporation of Brighton.
