Botanical samples.- A large quantity of plant samples, loose or tipped-in to various portfolios, labelled, [early 19th century]. ⁂ A superb array of specimens, including flowers and grasses from the collection of the renowned French botanist Michel Adanson and continued by his family. Adanson (1727-1806) worked in the cabinets of R. A. F. Réaumur and Bernard de Jussieu, as well as in the Jardin des Plantes, Paris. At the end of 1748 he went on an expedition to Senegal, funded by the director of the Compagnie des Indes. ⁂ A sample of this large quantity will be on view at the Westbury Hotel, the remainder will be held at our rooms in Queenstown Road, Battersea.
