[20] pp. (12mo) 18x14 cm (7x5"), wrappers illustrated from photograph by Gui de Angulo. First Edition. Brautigan's scarce fourth book. Carp Press was a self-publishing venture by Brautigan and his wife, Virginia. The publisher's address noted in the book, 575 Pennsylvania Street, was their own. This was Brautigan's first utilization of a photographic front cover and featured his bare feet standing on the suckered tentacle of a large octopus. Inspiration for this front cover perhaps came from the first issue of Foot, a literary magazine edited by poet Richard Duerden. Published in September 1959, Foot featured a front cover design of two human feet by poet Robert Duncan.
