BRITISH ARCHITECTURE -- BANKS, Robert Richardson An album of 82 pen-and-ink line drawings on tracing paper, many signed 'R.R. Banks' and 'R.B.B.' and dated as traced 1848 after drawings c.1842-43. (Some browning at edges from adhesive, occasional spotting.) Mounted on 45 leaves of a 4° album bound in 19th-century red half morocco (some wear). Banks remodeled, with Charles Barry Jr., the forecourt buildings of Burlington House to accommodate the Society of Antiquaries and other learned societies. Sketches include details of Magdalen and Merton Colleges, Oxford, Gloucester and Worcester cathedrals, Waltham and St Alban's abbeys, St Osyth Priory and various parish churches. -- WOOD, John. The Origin of Building: or, the plagiarism of the Heathens detected . Bath: by S. and F. Farley, 1741. 2°. Engraved plates, some folding. (Some spotting.) Contemporary calf (worn, boards detached).
