British School watercolour oval portrait of Sarah Ellen Goss in later gilt frame, it is unsigned. 35 x 25cm. It has a hand written note on the back which names Sarah Ellen Goss as the wife of Adolphus Goss and that the picture was to go to Robert Goss. Adolphus was the son of William Henry Goss who owned the Falcon Potteries and produced Goss Ware, and states that Adolphus was responsible for introducing their souvenir ornaments and that Sarah Ellen and Adolphus W H Goss lived at The Old Villa, Alsager.
