BROWNE, HABLOT K[NIGHT] LEVER, CHARLES. The Dodd Family Abroad . London: Chapman & Hall, 1854; Together with LEVER, CHARLES. Davenport Dunn. London: Chapman & Hall, 1859; Together with LEVER, CHARLES. Roland Cashel. London: Chapman & Hall, 1850. Three volumes in all, all first book editions. The first title has two original pencil drawings by "Phiz," mounted opposite the finished plates. The second two have a single drawing. Each is elaborately bound in full morocco, gilt extra by Riviere. Various paginations. Some scuffing to joints, but a handsomely bound trio. After his celebrated illustrations for Dickens, at the time Browne was most highly regarded for his illustrations to Lever's novels. Provenance: Bookplate of H. L. Bradfer-Lawrence; by purchase to Valerie Browne Lester, Phiz's descendant and biographer, with her bookplate. The property of Valerie Browne Lester
